Red Bull Illume, the international photography contest that brings incredible images from the world of action and adventure sports into the public domain, is back for a second, enlightening competition in 2010.
In 2007 the first edition of Red Bull Illume Image Quest was a huge success. Around 2,000 established and upcoming photographers from over 90 different countries submitted more than 7,500 images that were judged by a panel of renowned, expert photo editors such as Kari Stein of Sports Illustrated, Paul Sanders of The Times or Nick Hamilton of Transworld Snowboarding Magazine. The subsequent exhibition tour presented the 50 finalist images in outstanding outdoor venues across North America.
After the spectacular success of its inaugural edition, the Red Bull Illume Image Quest 2010 will once again showcase the globe’s very best action and adventure images and honor the photographers behind them. Amateur and professional photographers are invited to enter their best shots into Red Bull Illume to share their passion for this incredible genre with the masses and for the chance to have their images displayed for millions of people to see.
The submission phase for images will be open from October 1, 2009 until January 31, 2010. Photographs can be submitted in the following categories: Playground, Culture, Energy, Spirit, Closeup, Wings, Sequence, New Creativity, Experimental and Illumination.
