On June 14 in Barcelona, Spain, Matthias Dandois (FRA) won his ninth BMX flat contest of the season … out of nine competitions. A very strict regime imposed by the World Champion that should continue to last for a while …
Nobody can stop him. On June 14 Matthias Dandois won another BMX flat contest in Barcelona. His ninth success in a row since the beginning of the season. After Monaco and the first leg of the World Tour mid-April, after the FISE in Montpellier three weeks ago … This time the Frenchman devoured Barcelona. A competition which attracted 25 riders and names such as Mikael Steingraber and Viki Gomez. ‘I went last,’ Matthias explains. ‘I saw what the others had done. So I didn’t take too many risks and just did enough to make it … and it worked out!’ Sometimes life can be as simple as that.
Next objective: the BMX World Championship on July 10-12 in Cologne, Germany. ‘This is a competition that I’ve always wanted to win because so far I’ve always failed,’ he says. Then it will be the time to defend his title at the two last legs of the World Tour. ‘Winning both the tour and the championship would be great stuff, of course. That’s why I’m training hard and doing a lot of tests right now, to prepare for these big summer competitions.’ Next week Matthias will be in the Czech Republic and is ready to strike again. Maybe for his tenth victory …
