Motocross rider Marvin Musquin is currently dominating the MX2 World Championship. In the following interview the 19-year-old Frenchman talks about his change to KTM, super powers – and discloses what it is he still has to work on.

As a new member of the Red Bull KTM team you celebrated an excellent debut – and in Mallory Park in England won your first two races straight off. Are you a perfect match with Red Bull KTM, or Red Bull KTM with you? Or do you have another explanation for your series of successes?

I feel really great on my new KTM bike and it helps a lot to feel confident. I also have a good feeling with the team.

What was the reason for the change from Honda to KTM – and how different is each of the machines from a rider’s point of view?

The KTM is a full factory bike, which is really important – and to me a great bike enhances the chances of becoming a World Champion.

Please give us a few details about yourself. How would your friends describe you – and also the rivals that you leave behind?

Most of the time, I’m too nice to people. It’s good in every-day life but not that much in racing. I’m working on it ...

Your namesake, the comic hero Marv from Sin City, is almost two meters tall, has super powers and is a tireless protector of women and children. What super powers characterize the motocross rider Marv?

Since I’m young, I try to be one of the best technical riders, and for me that’s my super power!

How much of a role did this play in your double victory in Ernee?

The track was very technical, which was to my advantage. Plus my two holeshots [a term used for the rider who is the first through the first turn, ed.] with the KTM. These two things helped.

How did your double victory feel in your home race? What were you feeling as you crossed the finish line, and how did you celebrate your triumph?

Winning my home GP felt like a dream. I was so happy after all this winter training, and I celebrated my victory with my family and friends.

After nine out of 16 Grands Prix you’re now leading in the overall standings by a margin of 38 points. How do you see your chances of this still being the case after the last race in Brazil?

My goal is clear: I really want the title this year.

Where, who and what do you hope to be in two or three years’ time?

I want to be a two-time World Champion and go to the States to show them how fast I can ride a motocross bike.
