After a boom inaugural year in 2008, the Red Bull Junior Surf Masters heralded its return, back and bigger than ever, with some cracking performances by the Northern Beaches’ best surfers. It was David Vlug who took the spoils of victory at Curl Curl, the first Qualifier in the 2009 series on June 20.

The season opening for European wakeboarding couldn’t have been better. On May 1 at Red Bull Wake the Line in Cologne, Germany, more than 7,000 spectators saw incredible wakeboarding action performed by top riders from all over the world.

Orlando takes Italy by storm
The southern Italian city of Polignano a Mare – the European Mecca of cliff diving – hosted the half-time stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving Series 2009 on July 26, and 30,000 spectators witnessed a stormy lesson from the nine-time World Champion Orlando Duque (COL) who now distinctly leads the series into its second half.

On April 3 and 4, Tempe, Arizona, USA, played host to the second stop ever of the experimental wakeboarding event Red Bull Wake Lab. The two-day event drew more than 25,000 spectators, who witnessed wakeboarding's top guns battle it out on an innovative skatepark on water, dubbed ‘the Wake Lab.’
