Norwegian Karina Hollekim was one of the greatest free skiers and base jumpers in the world — until she had a near-fatal parachute crash in 2006. She was told she would spend the rest of her life in wheel chair, but she refused to accept the prognosis and has fought her way back to life. In May 2012, she participated in The Haute Route, a high-level skiing tour from Chamonix in France to Zermatt in Switzerland.
The route of this classic skiing challenge is measured to be 180 km long and takes place in a 10.000 meters level. Normally this takes about seven days to finish. To Karina “The Haute Route” symbolizes a final test. This proves that she has overcome the bad predictions and gone back to being just a “normal” girl.
